A CRY OF CANVASES, ZAK D. COLE

A CRY OF CANVASES (VOL. 1 The Collapse Of Cards Series)

A Cry Of Canvases, the first book – now retired – is an intoxicating new young adult-fantasy series about witches, wizards, fairies, and mermaids – who once lived in harmony – that are now on the verge of inter-racial war. Willow Grim and her coven can’t seem to catch a break as tensions rise between their enemies and themselves, and their common governemnt – The Communion – falls apart from the inside. And while the ruling pharaohs are fighting each other on the insides of space and time. And while everyone is distracted, an anicent evil returns and slips back into power.

This is where it all gets messy…

  • A Cry Of Canvases and A Fall Of Pharoahs are going to be combined into one book. That book will be called THE WOOD WITCH!
  • The Canvas Curse makes up the first half of A Cry Of Canvases.
  • The New Head Witch makes up the second hald of A Cry Of Canvases.
  • And the four booklets by Zakkarie Dio, The Canvas Curse Part 1, The Canvas Curse Part 2, The Canvas Curse Part 3, & The Canvas Curse Part 4, make up the first half of A Cry Of Canvases.

This is the original cover for A Cry Of Canvases. It doesn’t have any title or author information on the front but it does have the title and my name on the spine. There’s a full cover pic below.

The cover is made up of what I call The Coloured Cards. To read more about that, click the button below.

WHAT’S A CRY OF CANVASES ABOUT?

Basically, some guy (Drake) who survives a plane crash ends up washing onto an island infested with zombies, who are all being controlled by a group of very unhappy magicians (a coven of witches and fairies combined.) And because the coven is so miserable, a few of the memebers use the arrival of this “Drake” fellow to distract their head witch and rip apart the zombie fleet (they break the curse keeping the zombies zombies — that being the canvas curse, as the zombies happen to be the island’s former residents who had their souls stolen from them and tossed into paintings.)

Basically, the whole coven falls apart from the inside. And then there’s the other question on everyone’s mind. What happen to the Communion and the Worlds they’re all from? As the Communion really was supposed to be getting back into contact with the Coven, a very long time ago, and its been a few decades now… And the island’s kind of falling into chaos and anarchy, which the Coven had originally tried to stop, years ago, and where is the Communion? Why haven’t they returned? Why aren’t they stepping in to take control of this awful situation.

Will I republish it?

Yes. I don’t know when. But I do plan on getting this whole series back into the game, in the near future. I’m currently working on a book that has a story focus before the events in A Cry Of Canvases and A Fall Of Pharaohs, so that will mostly come first, I haven’t got a title for it yet. But definitely look out for The Wood Witch. That’s what this book and A Fall Of Pharaohs will be called. So look out for that one.
