It’s Thunderday Night. Barte’s not back, and neither is the Communion. I’m growing worried, but Evelyn believes they’ll be back. Pumbic tells me that I shouldn’t have such silly thoughts of worry.
Apparently Barte wants nothing more than to rest and relax at home.
Pumbic reckons Barte’s the biggest hermit I’ll ever meet. I don’t believe it.
In Dobbingson and Ezarco, he was always out at the tavern or what Gweyne and Buckly call the Whore House – whatever that is.
It’s only in Shanahan that I’ve known him to never leave the house, and I’m pretty sure that’s because the folk here don’t like him.
He could be a hermit, or he could not be. But I personally don’t believe he’s very popular. Gweyne once told me that Barte’s own people disliked him because of his position in politics, purely because he’s a scare crow and the Heirophant to their world.
